In 2005 Kintrol was involved in the "home of the future" Innovation House (IH2). This Gold Coast display home showcases some of Australia's most progressive building and water-saving technologies. A key argument in the project was the need for sustainable housing; a focus on sustainability and corporate and social responsibility shared by Kintrol. Our aim is to concentrate on sustainable products in the building industry, in particular to improve energy efficiency, water efficiency "and the use of innovative technology to enhance lifestyles, [and] improve environmental outcomes".

Smart Windows help to "save considerable money" on air conditioning bills and "protect valuable assets...A lot of schools forget to close their windows but we can hook their windows up to a timer so that they open at a certain time each morning, then close again each night." Also "protecting valuable assets" with smoke sensors within Kintrol systems "if a fire is detected the windows will automatically open to allow the smoke to be released" and or ingress minimising smoke inhalation.
